Japanese yen
The Japanese yen (JPY) is the currency of Japan. The currency code is JPY and currency symbol is ¥ (international) or 円 (Japan—present day) or 圓 (Japan—traditional). The Japanese yen is subdivided into 100 sen or 1000 rin (both sen and rin are not in circulation). Frequently used Japanese yen coins are in denominations of ¥1, ¥5, ¥10, ¥50, ¥100, ¥500. Frequently used Japanese yen banknotes are in denominations of ¥1000, ¥5000, ¥10000. The Japanese yen is the fourth reserve currency after the United States dollar (USD), the Euro (EUR), and the British pound sterling (GBP). The Euro (EUR) is the currency of the Eurozone, which consists of 17 out of 27 member states of the European Union (EU), including Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. It is also officially used by Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, Akrotiri and Dhekelia (UK Sovereign Base Areas), Clipperton Island (France territory), French Southern and Antarctic Lands (France territory), Saint Pierre and Miquelon (self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France), Mayotte (France dependency) and unofficially used by Andorra, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Zimbabwe.
