The Mexican peso is the currency of Mexico (officially the United Mexican States), a federal constitutional republic in North America. It shares borders with the United States, Guatemala, Belize, and is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico. Mexico declared its independence from Spain in 1810 and was officially recognized in 1821.
